(Equipment used for Flight within Control Areas or Control Zones)
Article 147. The equipment necessary for installation in an aircraft navigating within a control area or a control zone under the provisions of Article 61 of the l,,aw shall he as specified in each applicable subparagraph as follows, corresponding to the cases specified in each subsequent subparagraph thereto, and the quantity of each item of said equipment shall he not less than the number specified in each subparagraph:
(1)In the case of navigating within a control area or a control zone: Radiotelephone capable of maintaining communication with air traffic control facilities under any circumstances: One (1). (In the case of an aircraft used for air transportation service with a maximum take-off weight of more than 5,700 kilograms: Two (2);
(2)In the case of a flight made in accordance with flight rules as specified for an airspace designated by Notification of the Minister of Transport as coming under instrument flight rules or visual flight rules, within a control area or a control zone:- an ATC transponder capable of transmitting the identification pulses of an aircraft in response to Mode A or Mode 3 interrogative signals: One (1);
(3)In the case of a flight made in accordance with flight rules as specified for an airspace designated by Notification of Minister of Transport as coming under instrument flight rules or visual flight rules, within a control area or a control zone:- an ATC transponder with answering codes of 4,096 or more capable of transmitting the identification pulses of an aircraft in response to Mode A or Mode 3, interrogative signals, and also capable of transmitting the altitude of an aircraft in response to Mode C interrogative signals: One (1).
